November 8, 2011Forgiveness does not mean you are saying it is OK what the person who has caused the hurt has done, it just means you have set yourself free to move on to better things without carrying the burden of that pain. Easier said than done in some instances I know, but if you look at it from the perspective that you are forgiving them to heal yourself and not them, then it may help empower you.
When you forgive you are simply free of that person influencing your moods, the way you feel about yourself, your life.
This is not to say that you should “forget”, or even trust that person, or if they have gone from your life, have them back in your life. There is no obligation attached to forgiveness, I think this is what people struggle with.
It simply means you are moving on, have healed and what they did does not affect you anymore.
Then you are free to share all the good things you have to offer to those who will love and appreciate you. Because, you are wonderful. Be easy on yourself, life can be very hard at times. I hope this helps some people.

That is so true. It wasnt until I forgave my ex (after years of physical and mental abuse to not only me but my children) that I truly felt free. I have since started on a new career path and great things just keep happening. Before it was one bad experience after another while I was locked in battle with my ex. I dont condone what he did and certainly he will and is now paying for it through illness but it was the universes doing not mine. I have forgiven him and he no longer affects me or my children, they say they even pity him. So no matter how hurt you have been by someone forgive them, you dont have to forget what they did but forgive them and leave it up to the universe to decide their fate, but you will find a freedom like no other.
